5 Pics: BJP's CM Probables in Bihar

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday said the BJP Parliamentary Board will soon take a decision on whether to project someone as chief ministerial candidate in poll-bound Bihar or not. However, we look at the five top contenders for the chief minister's post from the party.

  • Sushil Kumar Modi, the former Bihar Deputy Chief Minister, is one of the strongest contenders for Bihar chief minister's post if the BJP wins the state assembly elections. He has the most legislative and party experience. He also handled the crucial finance portfolio in the Nitish Kumar regime. He is from a backward caste and also the most influential face of the BJP in Bihar.
  • Nand Kishore Yadav, the leader of opposition in Bihar Assembly, is also one of the top candidates for the chief minister's post. He was also a Cabinet minister in the Nitish Kumar government.
  • Radha Mohan Singh, the Union Agriculture Minister, is also one of the candidates for the top post.
  • Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad's name is also doing the rounds in the political circles of Bihar.
  • CP Thakur, former Union Minister, belongs to the powerful landed upper caste Bhumihars. The senior leader had earlier said that he was ready to be chief ministerial candidate in the run-up to the Bihar assembly elections.
