Advani begins 'Jan chetna yatra'
Advani's begins 'Jan chetna yatra'
-
BJP leader LK Advani is out to defy his political obituary writers as he begins his 'Jan Chetna Yatra' against corruption from Bihar today.
-
The senior BJP leader reportedly wants his yatra - his sixth since 1990 - to re-establish him as the face of his party ahead of the next general elections, scheduled for 2014.
-
Mr Advani's yatra will move through 23 states, covering 7600 kms.
-
During this, he will address rallies, interact with party workers and mingle with supporters.
-
His 'rath' is crafted by none other than Dilip Chhabria, the czar of designer cars.
-
The Rath has a hydraulic platform, a high-tech audio system, all sorts of communication gadgets and enough space to sit and plan. An unlike his past yatras, this one has a theme song too.
-
Advani insists his 38-day nationwide yatra is part of his efforts to fight corruption.
-
But this time, the most prolific yatri of Indian politics will be watched more by his own party and its ideological fountainhead - the Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh (RSS).
-
The RSS fears that Advani is out to do a 2009, when he outsmarted the Sangh to be the PM contender.
