After meditation, Anna begins fast

Anti-corruption activist Anna Hazare is back in the capital with a fast, a hard attack on the government and the warning that a strong anti-corruption law in the form of a Lokpal Bill is non-negotiable.

In what has now become ritual, Anna Hazare has begun the day with a visit to Rajghat, where he is meditating.

"Anna now at Rajghat. Anna is determined to ensure he does all he can to secure an effective lokpal for the country," Kiran Bedi posted on Twitter this morning.

After meditating for almost an hour at Rajghat, Anna Hazare left for Jantar Mantar, where he will sit on a token one-day fast.

At Jantar Mantar, Anna Hazare declared open his third "Lokpal" fast of the year with his trademark "Bharat mata ki Jai" war cry.

Senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley began the debate on the Lokpal Bill at Jantar Mantar today. "Why should we accept a corrupt PM even for a single day? We want PM under Lokpal," he said.

Janata Dal (United) chief Sharad Yadav joined the Lokpal debate at Jantar Mantar.

"War against corruption has been fought earlier but did not work. Now, the movement against corruption is everywhere,” he said.

Ram Gopal Yadav of the Samajwadi Party joined the Lokpal debate.

"We are all working to deliver an effective law against corruption. But everything you ask for cannot be sanctioned," he said.
