Amitabh Bachchan Visits Village Near Ranthambore

Megastar and the ambassador of the NDTV Aircel Save Our Tigers campaign, Amitabh Bachchan visited the Tilar Nagar, a village that has been relocated from the Ranthambore buffer area in the town of Sawai Madhopur in Rajasthan. As part of the campaign, Mr Bachchan spearheaded a 12-hour long telethon in Ranthambore last Sunday (July 15, 2012) which raised Rs 5.81 crore for the tigers.

The villagers told Mr Bachchan that they were happy to have cleared the forest for the tigers and move closer to development. The village has access to medical care and schools. Also the Central government scheme provide 10 lakhs per adult for the relocation.

They also put forward their concerns about the lack of electricity, water, proper roads and unmeployment.
