Anna Hazare, whose fast enters the 12th day today, has clearly stated that to end his hunger strike, Parliament must debate and pass a tough anti-corruption law.

On this historic day (Aug 28), when 74-year-old social activist Anna Hazare breaks his 12-day long fast, the country watches as he, literally, takes centrestage at the Ramlila Maidan.

On stage with Anna, Aamir Khan partook in Iftar, which takes place after Maghrib (sunset).
Iftar is the evening meal that Muslims eat during the month of Ramadan. Traditionally, Iftar is kickstarted by consuming haleem. -
Actor Aamir Khan appealed to Anna Hazare to end his fast and paid rich tribute to the 74-year-old social activist.

“This will be a long process, and we need Anna's leadership for our struggle. So I urge him here to please end his fast today," Aamir Khan said.

Director Raju Hirani said he salutes Team Anna and appealed to Anna Hazare to break his fast. “You need to break your fast, we need you to carry on this protest and be with us,” he said.

It's almost certain now that Anna Hazare will end his fast this evening. The 74-year-old activist is on the 12th day of his hunger strike. A debate in Parliament is expected to conclude with the acceptance of Anna's three demands for a new Lokpal or ombudsman committee in charge of investigating complaints against government servants.

As Anna Hazare's protest entered its 11th day, a group of young men, claiming to be Anna supporters, clashed with policemen and dismantled barricades.

According to an eyewitness, the group of about seven to eight men, reportedly drunk, got into a tiff with some policemen deployed at the rear gate of the Ramlila Maiden around 3 am. They heckled the policemen and hit them with sticks when they tried to stop the group from opening the VIP gate.

The group brought down the barricades and shouted slogans as policemen tried to persuade them to go away.

On the 10th day of the fast, a team of doctors said that the 74-year-old Gandhian's blood tests had results within the normal parameters..
