Assembly elections 2013: Heavyweights

Prominent leaders from various parties go on the campaign trail in the states going to elections this year - Delhi, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram.

  • Sheila Dikshit has almost become the face of Delhi with three back-to-back wins in the assembly elections. However, many believe, though still strong, the Chief Minister will face her toughest battle this year.
  • Some political pundits believe, he will be a game-changer in Delhi, some say he will be inconsequential when it comes down to actual votes, however, few would disagree Arvind Kejriwal has made his presence felt in Indian politics and in very less time. His popularity has captured the people's imagination, something which even Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit has acknowledged.
  • Dr Harshvardhan, former health minister of Delhi, has been announced as the BJP's chief ministerial candidate. Known for introducing the pulse polio campaign and a clean image, many believe Dr Harshvardhan is the BJP's best shot of overthrowing the Sheila Dikshit government in Delhi.
