Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray's funeral pyre was lit by his son Uddhav Thackeray. The funeral procession reached Shivaji Park this evening after travelling through parts of Central Mumbai for at least eight hours.
Over two lakh people were at the Shivaji Park grounds. It's the first time that someone has beeen cremated here. Shivaji Park is known for locals including Sachin Tendulkar playing cricket matches here.
