The flames erupted at 4 pm on Thursday at the Bellandur Lake in Bengaluru. The lake caught fire after being overrun with toxic froth and smoke, courtesy the chemicals and debris dumped nearby.
It took firemen hours to extinguish the flames that erupted.

The fire, it is now believed, began in the clumps of dry hyacinth and weed around the lake
