BJP Proposes Bharat Ratna For Savarkar, Farooq Abdullah's Sister, Daughter Arrested, And Other Big Stories

BJP, in its manifesto for Maharashtra polls, has proposed conferring Vinayak Damdodar Savarkar with the Bharat Ratna. Also, the sister and daughter of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah were among the dozen women arrested by the police on Tuesday.

  • The lead story in the Hindustan Times is the Army Chief General Bipin Rawat's statement asserting India would fight and win the next war with locally produced weapons and systems. He further called for the greater indigenisation in the military sector.
  • Supreme Court Justice Arun Mishra questioned the demand for his recusal in hearing the interpretation of a provision of the land acquisition Act, asking whether it amounted to maligning the court.
