Cyclone Phailin has hit communication lines and power supply in Odisha, Revenue & Disaster Management Minister Surya Narayan Patra told NDTV. In capital Bhubaneswar, there was no power all of last night as the power supply was cut as a precautionary measure as strong winds have uprooted trees and electricity poles, Mr Patra added. The cyclone has prompted the country's biggest evacuation in 23 years with more than eight lakh people moved up from the coastline in Odisha and Andhra Pradesh to safer places.
