Delhi blast: The human face of tragedy

Tragedy struck the national capital on Wednesday when a powerful bomb exploded at the High Court. 12 people were killed and more than 70 injured in the incident.

The people who had come to the High Court for justice became victims all over again.

    Here is the list of those who were killed in the blast at Delhi High Court:
  • Nizamuddin: The octogenarian came from Meerut for the last hearing in a family feud. Mr Nizamuddin was accompanied by his grandson and two relatives who were injured. Hospital authorities declared him "brought dead".
  • Amanpreet Singh Kohli: A young 21 year old was a law student from West Delhi's Tilak Nigar. Mr Kohli left his home at around 9 a.m. with his driver. He was also declared, "brought dead" to the hospital.

  • Many people were standing in queue at the High Court when the bomb exploded. Among the deceased is Inder Singh, aged 75, who was a resident of Geeta Colony in East Delhi. Mr Singh had come to the court with his son Maninder for a hearing.
  • The explosion took place at 10.15 am on Wednesday - "rush hour" for the courthouse which usually starts hearings at 10.30 am. Vinod Jaiswal was one of the 13 people killed. The fifty-five old was a resident of Sarai Rohilla, North Delhi.
  • An officer of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) stands with the evidence collected from the site of the blast where many lost their lives. Among them was 50-year-old Vir Pal Singh. He was a resident of Gandhi Nagar, East Delhi.
  • Outside the High Court,Indian police commandoes use sniffer dogs to search near the scene of one of the deadliest blast.Mehtab Singh Dabas, who was a resident of Ghewar village, Nangloi in West Delhi also lost his life. Mr Dabas, 57, had come along with his son to the court for a hearing on civil dispute.
  • HD Joshi,68, was among the killed. She lived in Naraina, West Delhi. He had come for a hearing on the case he had filed against the Municipal Corporation of Delhi for "non-development of Naraina industrial area". The deceased ran a footwear factory in West Delhi.
  • An injured man is taken on a stretcher at the RML hospital. The explosion left many devastated. Darshan Lal Jain, who was a resident of Shakti Nagar, North Delhi was killed in the blast.
  • A relative of the victim looks scarred at the RML hospital. 52-year-old Pawan Bansal lost his life in the blast.
  • An injured man is taken to the RML hospital. Among the 13 people killed, Nalini Agarwal who was a resident of Vasant Vihar also became the victim of the deadly blast.

    55-year-old Patran succumbed to his injuries at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital on Thursday night to take the death toll of the tragedy to 13.
