The leading newspapers on Sunday came up with creative headlines, with most of them expressing surprise over how - within few hours - tables turned on Saturday midnight and Devendra Fadnavis took the oath of the office of chief minister of Maharashtra for a second term, with NCP's Ajit Pawar as his deputy. "The Real Day-Night Test Is In Mumbai", read the headline of The Sunday Times' Delhi edition's lead story. The Asian Age came up with a one-word headline - "WTFadnavis". "While you were sleeping" was the headline at the Sunday Express.

The Times of India headlined Maharashtra government formation story as "The Real Day-Night Test Is In Mumbai". The leading English daily took an editorial stance in the opening strap, "The dramatic developments of Friday night and Saturday prove that even a few hours - let alone a week - is a long time in politics".
