The forth phase of the Lok Sabha elections in nine states of Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh, Odisha, Bihar, Jharkhand and Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag began today. 17 Lok Sabha constituencies are voting in Maharashtra. As many as 3,11,92,823 people in the state are eligible to exercise their franchise. The Election Commission of India has set up 33,314 polling stations in these constituencies and deployed 68,018 balloting units, 39,977 control units and 43,309 VVPAT-EVMs. Special wheelchair compatible taxis have been arranged to help the specially-abled voters travel from their houses to polling booths in Mumbai.
