Farmers Body Calls For 'Rail Roko' Protest Over Farmers' Killing In Uttar Pradesh
The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) called for a six-hour-long nationwide ''Rail roko'' agitation today demanding the removal of Union Minister of State (MoS) for Home Affairs Ajay Mishra Teni from the Union Cabinet over the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, in which his son Ashish Mishra Teni is an accused. The "rail roko" sit-in aimed to stop rail traffic for six hours on October 18, between 10 am and 4 pm.
A few farmers climbed over barricades set up by the police in western Uttar Pradesh's Hapur railway station and then ran across the tracks, leading to police chasing them down.
