Fire in Everest Apartments in South Mumbai

The ninth floor of Everest building in South Mumbai caught fire early this evening. Most residents were evacuated, but initially there were reports that about 12 people on higher floors were trapped inside.

A fire was reported on the ninth floor. The building in Tardeo is a 10 storey building which is a residential-cum-commercial building.
When the fire was noticed, at least 12 people were reportedly still stuck in the building. Rescue operations were on even while the fire brigade was engaged in dousing the fire.
The fire allegedly was detected in an office on the ninth floor. Police are investigating the cause.

Ambulances were on standby to take people to local hospitals. Most residents were evacuated in time but there were reports that at least 12 people were trapped when the fire broke out. Everyone was rescued and no one had any serious injuries.
Everest building is located in the crowded Tardeo area of South Mumbai. The fire was doused within a few hours and everyone was evacuated and rescued in time.
Residents of the building gathered outside to watch and help in rescue operations. No casualties were reported and the fire brigade managed to rescue everyone in time. About 10-12 people were taken to local hospitals for first aid.
