A day before Prime Minister Manmohan Singh begins a visit to Jammu and Kashmir, suspected militants today opened fire on an Army convoy near Bemina on the outskirts of Srinagar.
The police also said that the gunmen fled the spot in a car with tinted windows. The area has been cordoned off by the Army which is now conducting search operations.

A motorcycle, believed to be used by militants, has been recovered, police said. PTI reports that Hizbul Mujahideen has claimed responsibility for the attack.
This is the second attack in Srinagar, the state capital, in the last two days. The city has been on high alert after suspected militants shot dead two policemen on Saturday.
