  • Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport will soon have a new state-of-the-art terminal. Officials have released pictures of what Terminal 2 or T2, as it will be known, will look like once it is ready, most likely by September next year.

The cost of the T2 terminal at the time of proposal was Rs 7,452 crore, but it has now escalated to Rs 9,800 crore. (An artist's impression of the new T2)
  • 67% of the construction has been completed. T2 will be a four-storey terminal and will cater to an estimated 40 million passengers annually.

The new terminal will have 188 check-in counters, 60 immigration counters for departing passengers, and 76 immigration counters for incoming fliers. To get around, passengers will have access to 47 escalators and 73 elevators. (An artist's impression of the new T2)
  • For those who stress about travelling to the domestic Sahar airport for connecting flights, a six-lane elevated expressway will ease things.

A multi-level car park is also being built to accommodate 5,000 vehicles. T2 will mostly cater to international traffic, though a few domestic airlines are expected to move operations there later. (An artist's impression of the new T2)
