Pakistani media reports said the injured had been moved to Jinnah Hospital and Sheikh Zayed Hospital in Lahore. Injuries sustained in the blast were serious. Police were quoted as saying around 70 people were present at the time of the blast and many were feared trapped.(AFP Photo)

Reports said a car laden with 600kg of explosives rammed the Federal Investigative Agency building, causing a 17-foot crater as an impact of the blast. Neighbouring buildings were also affected.

No group immediately claimed responsibility, but suspicion immediately fell on the Pakistani Taliban and allied militant groups responsible for a wave of attacks that killed more than 600 people late last year -- a stretch of violence that appeared to be retaliation for a military offensive against insurgents along the Afghan border.
