Heavy Rains in Mumbai Cause Traffic Jams, Trains Disrupted
Heavy rains lashed the city of Mumbai on Thursday and Friday causing severe traffic disruptions.

For the second consecutive day on Friday, Mumbai received heavy rain causing water logging and major traffic jams. Suburban train services have also been affected.

Water logging has been reported from low lying areas like Dadar, Parel, Sion, Kurla, Ghatkopar and the Western Express Highway, causing severe traffic snarls along the stretches.

According to officials of the Indian Metro logical Department, the city is expected to receive heavy rainfall for the next 48 hours as the monsoon is likely to get stronger.

Heavy monsoon showers affected suburban train services on the Central Railway's Main and Harbour lines due to water logging on the tracks. Trains on the Western line are running late by about 10-15 minutes.

The southern part of city received 111.4 mm rainfall in the last 24 hours, while north Mumbai received 49.1 mm, as per Met records.

Till 8.30 AM on Friday, Colaba received 101 mm rainfall while Santacruz recorded 47.8 mm downpour.
