Heart of the Bollywood film industry, Mumbai, participated in NDTV-Dettol Banega Swachh India Campaign. People from all walks of life gather to clean their city and make the dream of #SwachhIndia come true. From one of Mumbai's most polluted beaches, Versova to Chimney Beach, cleanup drive took place at various locations.

At Mumbai's Chimbai beach, which is one of the most polluted beaches in Mumbai with plastic waste as the main concern, the NGO United Way, along with other NGOs and locals of the Chimbai village has been instrumental in cleaning up a lot of the 4-feet high garbage mound that dominated the beach a few years back.

Afroz Shah, one of the architects of Versova beach cleanup, said that his complaint on Versova was to himself and he had taken it upon himself to clean the beach. In the last two years, Mr Shah and his team of volunteers have managed to pluck out 7,800 tonnes of garbage from the beach premises. 'The United Nations has termed this cleaning activity as the biggest beach cleanup in history,' added Mr Shah.
