ICC Women's World Cup: Australia Beat India In A Thriller, Qualify For Semifinals

ICC Women's World Cup: Australia on Saturday became the first team to qualify for the semi-finals of tournament after beating India by 6 wickets at the Eden Park in Auckland.

  • Darcie Brown bowled with a lot of firepower and gave Australia the early wickets of India openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Varma. She then bagged her third wicket of the match, dismissing Yastika Bhatia
  • Yastika Bhatia gave India's innings a much-needed thrust after the team had lost both the openers for cheap. She added 130 runs for the third wicket skipper Mithali Raj, before getting out on 59.
  • Mithali Raj batted with a lot of authority as she and Bhatia steadied India's ship after early blows. She played a fine 68-run before being dismissed by Alana King
  • Harmanpreet Kaur continued her rich run of form in tournament, scoring yet another fifty. Her counter-attacking knock of 57 helped India reach a total of 277 for seven in 50 overs.
  • Alyssa Healy quashed all the concerns regarding her form in the tournament. She played a brilliant knock of 72, which laid the foundation of Australia's successful run-chase.
  • Meg Lanning put on a batting masterclass as Australia registered the highest successful run-chase in the history of the Women's World Cup. She, however, was unfortunate to miss out on a hundred.
