PM Narendra Modi today addressed the 42nd annual convocation of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the national capital.

Mr Modi was dressed in a blue graduation gown and cap. His speech was peppered with jokes, some about his own school days. He said,"I was never a good student, nor did I have the chance to receive an award."

The 64-year-old prime minister shared that people often commented on "his boundless energy". "There is nothing surprising about that. You are medical professionals...add some science and the fact that the need to do something always gives you energy," he said.

Mr Modi accepted one-day salary contribution from the staff of AIIMS for the Prime Minister's Relief Fund at the convocation.

Mr Modi was presented a memento by Profesor MC Misra, Director, AIIMS.

Mr Modi presented medals and book prizes at the convocation.
