In 4 Pics: Mumbai Shopkeeper Attacked With Sword

A physically challenged shopkeeper, Rajnish Thakur, was attacked with a sword on Tuesday night in Mumbai's Chembur area after he took on extortionists. A customer sprang to the rescue of Mr Thakur.

In this image captured from a CCTV video, shopkeeper Rajnish Thakur is seen sitting on a chair on the counter, talking to a customer who had come to pay him money, when Akram Shaikh, one of the accused, stormed in with the sword hidden behind his back.

The shopkeeper who suffered injuries to the neck, left hand and waist, wass in the ICU of a local hospital for hours.
CCTV video shows the customer overpowering the accused Akram Shaikh.
Four of the five accused (including Akram Shaikh) were arrested and presented in court yesterday. They have been remanded in police custody till August 14.
