Finance Minister Niramala Sitharaman will soon present her maiden budget after PM Modi led BJP won the Lok Sabha elections with a massive victory. Ahead of the budget that Ms Sitharaman will present at the parliament at 11 am, the finance minister along with MoS Finance Anurag Thakur, Finance Secretary SC Garg, Chief Economic Advisor Krishnamurthy Subramanian and other officials, posed for photographs outside the parliament. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman ditched the iconic budget briefcase and was seen holding a red cloth folder with a golden bow tied around it, bearing the emblem on top. Officials described the the red cloth folder "bahi khata".

Nirmala Sitharaman today carried the budget documents in a red folder with the national emblem wrapped with a ribbon instead of a Budget briefcase. This red folder, described by officials as the "bahi khata", symbolises the exit from Western thoughts, officials said.
