India Gate from the eyes of a traveller

Here's a traveller's account of his visit to India Gate.

“You must be a regular at India Gate, it's so pretty,” said a Malaysian friend. And like any other person who calls Delhi their home town, I am also oblivious to the amazing spots it offers to a traveller.

India Gate, a place that only brings back memories of school picnics or the Republic Day parade, is a traveller's delight both during the day and at night.
Located in the heart of the city on the western end of Rajpath, the monument is a symbol of victory and was built in 1921. Names of soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the World War 1 and the Afghan war have been written all over the monument.
The GenY of India knows the monument more as a place to give voice to their opinion. India Gate stands almost like a participant in many news coverages as we see protestors lighting candles, shouting slogans or getting drenched by water cannons by the police trying to disperse them. Whichever way you look at it, it is and should be on the must-see list for every traveller.
