Indian Air Force turns 79, the nation salutes

The Indian Air Force (IAF) celebrated its 79th anniversary today with a spectacular air display at the Air Force station in Hindon, Ghaziabad, in Uttar Pradesh. The day featured not just dazzling aerobatics but patriotism. Flying in formation these helicopters proudly display the tri-colour.

Helicopters formed the chakra position to regale the crowd.

Not to be outdone, IAF jets soared into the sky, letting everyone know once again just why when it comes to planes and pilots, India stands second to none.

Light flares from these planes added to the entertainment.

The members of the skydiving team Akash Ganga marched off to resounding applause.

From planes to people, the skydivers regaled the audience as they dropped out of an AN-32 aircraft.

The event was made even more special as for the first time, an all-woman team of IAF skydivers made their official debut at the parade.

The skydivers caused the audience's attention. Even the three service chiefs, who have seen many such events in the past, watched in rapt attention.

A billboard summed up everything the IAF stood and stands for all these years: 'Mission Integrity Excellence.' A day where the nation stands and salutes these brave men and women.
