INS Sandhyak Picks Up Beacon Signals, Likely From Missing Dornier Aircraft
A Navy ship has picked up beacon signals from what is likely to be a Dornier aircraft that went missing off the coast of Chennai on Monday with three crew members on board.
-
Multi-coloured oil was seen in concentric circles, which indicate oozing of oil in areas under focus, said Ministry of Defence.
-
Sample of oil has been sent to the laboratory for analysis.
-
The beacon signals were picked up south of Puducherry, between Port Novo and Karaikal, close to where the Coast Guard's Dornier aircraft is said to have disappeared.
-
A fleet of 15 ships including a submarine have been deployed in search operations to trace the missing aircraft.
-
The Coast Guard has roped in experienced divers, scientists and microbiologists as part of efforts to locate the Dornier.
