Jayalalithaa appears before Bangalore court for corruption case

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayanthi Jayalalithaa is appearing before the special court in Bangalore today. She has been charged of amassing wealth beyond her known source of income when she was the Chief Minister from 1991 to 1996. The Supreme Court today rejected the Chief Minister's latest attempt to skip that appearance. The court rejected her concerns about inadequate security.

But the Supreme Court turned down their request following an affidavit filed by the Karnataka Chief Secretary and The Director General of Police assuring the court of foolproof security measures in tune with her Z-plus status and NSG cover.
