Kobad Ghandy: The Maoist 'shadow man'
The Maoist ideologue made it to the headlines when he was arrested by the Delhi Police.

Known as the gentle revolutionary, Ghandy belongs to the group of those 'shadow men' who are the brain behind the Naxal movement. He is also the one who is responsible for expanding the Maoist influence in urban areas and created sympathisers for Naxal movement in these areas.

Kobad Ghandy hails from a wealthy family. His sister ran a family hotel in Mahableshwar with her husband, while his brother ran an ice-cream unit. Ghandy's wife is a sociology professor.
Ghandy did his schooling from Doon School; he went to St Xavier's College, Mumbai and did his chartered accountancy from London. -
Ghandy's arrest brought to the fore the suave face of the Naxal movement as his interrogation revealed association with elites, including academicians, who are believed to be the Maoist sympathisers.
Ghandy was in the top echelons of erstwhile CPI-ML (People's War Group) from 1981 and continued as central committee member in CPI(Maoist) Politburo in 2007.
