The US government has released a digitally enhanced photo of Al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden depicting what he may look now without his beard.
The photo released by the US Department of Defense (DoD) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) shows an age-progression image of Al-Qaida leader Osama bin-Laden. The image is part of a DoD/FBI initiative to find its most wanted terrorists.
The digitally enhanced images also show Osama with different clothing, which he may have been using in a bid to evade capture. (AFP photo) -
With his short, wavy grey hair, soft brown eyes and neatly trimmed beard, Osama could easily stroll down the high street unnoticed.
The pictures of the terrorist mastermind, who has not been seen since September 2007, are the latest in an increasingly desperate attempt to find bin Laden, who is believed to be in hiding in the Afghan-Pakistan border region. (AP Photo) -
“It is our hope that these digitally enhanced images will help someone recognise these terrorist suspects and then contact the Rewards for Justice program with information that leads to their apprehension,” Robert Eckert, assistant director for Diplomatic Security's Threat Information and Analysis Directorate, said.
The last confirmed footage of bin Laden was released in 2007 and featured the tyrant sporting a trimmed beard and wearing a traditional white long-sleeved Sunni shirt that extends below the knees. (AP Photo)
