Newspaper Headlines: Assam NRC On Page 1 Of All Papers
All the newspapers have the Assam citizens' list as their lead story. The National Register Citizens or NRC - intended to identify legal residents and move out illegal immigrants from the Assam-- excludes over 19 lakh people.

"19,06,657": The Indian Express headlines the exact number of people excluded from the crucial citizens' list. The outcome of the massive NRC exercise has not matched the BJP's long demand and has left its Assam unit discontented. The paper quotes a senior government source as saying that NRC exercise will not be attempted in other states.

The Hindustan Times also focuses on Assam as around 1.9 million people found themselves excluded from the final list of the National Register of Citizens' (NRC) published after an effort aimed at ending a four-decade movement against the presence of illegal immigrants.

The Assam citizens' list "elicits anger and sense of betrayal", the Times of India says in its Sunday headline. A total of 3.11 crore of the 3.3 crore applicants made it to the final list. The paper has also headline the Motor Vehicles Act 2019 coming into effect from today.
