Newspaper Headlines: For Bharat Bandh, Opposition Parties Send Message Of Support For Farmers & Other Top Stories

  • Hindustan Times: A raft of political parties, from the Congress to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, have backed the call for a Bharat bandh on Tuesday in support of farmers who have massed at Delhi' borders to protest against three farm laws introduced by the Centre. India is yet to discuss the pricing of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine and the ability of the company to deliver orders placed by the country even as the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization reviews the emergency authorisation sought by the vaccine developer.
  • The Asian Age: The opposition parties, led by the Congress, five other Left parties, NCP and DMK, on Sunday supported the December 8 "Bharat Bandh" call given by the farmers' union demanding a repeal of the three agriculture-related laws passed recently by the government. Continuing with the aggressive stand, the Chinese government has built new villages near the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Arunachal Pradesh this year.
  • The Telegraph: Farmers' representatives gave the government the silent treatment on Saturday as they saw the talks to break the stalemate go round in circles for the third time this week. Done talking, the farmer leaders sealed their lips and held up small placards with just "Yes or No" written on them, asking the government whether it would repeal the three laws. Thirty-five British MPs have opened a new and wider flank on the farmers' protest, going beyond Canadian concerns and raising questions about the "impact" of the farm laws.
