UPA's presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee and NDA's nominee PA Sangma filed their nominations on June 28. Both were accompanied by top leaders who are backing them in the polls. It was a show of strengths before the elections take place on July 19.

  • Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav was key ally leaders of the UPA present when Mr Mukherjee filed his nomination papers. BSP supremo Ms Mayawati, the Left and JD(U) are also supporting Mr Mukherjee in the presidential polls.
  • UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress General Secretary Rahul Gandhi were present when Mr Mukherjee filed his nomination papers. UPA allies, friends like Lalu Prasad Yadav, Mulayam Singh Yadav, Farooq Abdullah, TR Baalu and Ram Vilas Paswan made up the rest of the party.
  • Top BJP leaders were present when Mr Sangma filed his nomination papers. To put up a show of strength, BJP had asked its Chief Ministers and senior leaders to be present during the ceremony.
  • NDA's presidential nominee PA Sangma seen filing nomination papers here. He was accompanied by top NDA leaders and Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. Mr Patnaik and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Ms Jayalalithaa proposed his name as the presidential nominee. He was later backed by NDA. However NDA's nominee is not supported by two of its allies - JD(U) and Shiv Sena.
