On the rocky Himalayan terrain

I learned today that if you are mentally strong then you can do much more with your body than you can imagine.

  • Riding in hills is a completely different ballgame and requires a different set of training and conditioning of your body.  Picture Courtesy: Nitin Yadav
  • The terrain was getting steeper with every turn and tarmac road turned into broken tarmac and that turned into loose rocks and sand which made the ride tougher with distance.  Picture Courtesy: Nitin Yadav
  • The second stage, was all offroad downhill of 27kms which was very technical and tricky for an amateur rider like me. There were big rocks and sand. Downhill is everybody's favorite but this terrain required the most important skill...to be patient...the terrain looks tempting but you should never forget limits of your bike. • During the first stage, we got our briefing in the morning that it would be relatively easy riding, consisting of flat and downhill terrain.  Picture Courtesy: Nitin Yadav
  • I started easy in the morning as my body takes time to warm up...once the guys started overtaking me I was getting skeptical about completing the event while being competitive. Picture Courtesy: Nitin Yadav
  • After reaching halfway it just got impossible to ride any further as each rock on the road was acting as a speed breaker.  There came few moments in the stage where I almost gave up but then it's all in your head, so I made few stops on the way and completed the stage. • As I got into momentum my heart started pumping oxygen to my lungs and I gained some pace and overtook few guys which brought back my confidence.  Picture Courtesy: Nitin Yadav
