PM in US; China & Pakistan on agenda
Indian Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh is in the US for the first full-fledged state visit of Obama's presidency, amidst concerns about misuse of US aid by Pakistan and its silence on the recent developments concerning the Headley-Rana case.
It's a four-day visit and on the cards is a swank black-tie dinner at the White House on Tuesday.
Experts say Obama's main intention is to demonstrate his commitment to the world's largest democracy after an early focus on working with its neighbors China and Pakistan.

“India is ready for a peaceful rise of China, but Chinese assertiveness towards India cannot be ignored. What happens between obama and hu is not our direct concern. The world has to prepare for the peaceful rise of china as a major power. We have border disputes we are trying to solve that and both India and China have agreed that while that is pending we should keep the peace”, said the Indian PM. (AFP Photo)

Dr Manmohan Singh also said, “China has grown at a higher rate than India but there are other values that are more important with respect to fundamental rights, human rights , multi religious rights. India's GDP may not be as much as China, but I would not like to choose China's path as I prefer the Indian path. We may come across as indecisive because of a democracy but we belive that decisions taken democratically for reforms have a longer lasting and deeper impact.” (AP Photo)
