Mr Modi, 63, was sworn in as Prime Minister this evening at Rashtrapati Bhawan. His party, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), won a historic mandate and secured 282 seats in the recently concluded Lok Sabha Elections. -
Narendra Modi, dressed in white, laid rose petals on Gandhiji's memorial.

Mr Modi was accompanied by colleagues from the BJP including Dr Harsh Vardhan and Prakash Javadekar.

Narendra Modi is BJP's second Prime Minister after Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Mr Modi meditates with other members of the BJP. His council of ministers will also take oath along with him this evening.

Mr Modi's entourage leaves Atal Bihari Vajpayee's residence. The PM sought the blessings of the former Prime Minister.
