PM Modi Accuses Opposition Of Spreading Rumours On CAA, Massive Protests In Delhi Over New Bill

Amid continuing protests over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), PM Narendra Modi said the law had brought Pakistan's "persecution" of religious minorities to light. Protests erupted across Iran for a second day on Sunday, piling pressure on the country's leadership after the military admitted it had mistakenly shot down a Ukrainian airliner.

The Ramakrishna Math and Mission on Sunday distanced itself from Prime Minister Narendra Modi's remarks on the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, contending that it was a strictly apolitical body which did not respond to "ephemeral" calls.
  • Amid continuing confrontation over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), PM Narendra Modi dismissed the protests and said the law had brought Pakistan's "persecution" of religious minorities to light and home minister Amit Shah declared that those raising slogans against India would be sent to jail. The Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) said the boycott of registration for the winter semester would continue, after the varsity insisted that students would need to pay the hiked fees before registering and decided to suspend around 300 students for participating in the stir.
