Rahul then pointed out that Manmohan Singh was a Sikh prime minister. He was not PM because he was a Sikh, but because he was the most capable person for that post, he said. "It's not about your religion, it's about what you bring to the table." He said when a Muslim became PM, he would be the PM of the whole country. (NDTV Photo)

He said he grew up in a family where caste, religion were irrelevant. "I don't see caste, I see Indians..." He did, however, stress that the participation of people in politics was important.
