Reckitt Inaugurates Second Climate Resilient School In Uttarakhand On Banega Swasth India Season 10 Launch
During the launch of Banega Swasth India season 10 on October 2, Reckitt announced the establishment of second Climate Resilient school - Government Girls Upper Primary School Ratura, Block Augustmuni, Rudraprayag, in the Kedarnath region of Uttarakhand. The school has been set up in partnership with PLAN India under the project Dettol School Hygiene Education Program

The school infrastructure has an action-based climate change curriculum that offers education and workshops on eco-sensitisation walks, waste management, water and energy management, sustainable lifestyle and much more.

For students, the climate resilient school is equipped with eco-friendly stationery items, such as seed pencils, paper pens, colour-seed pencils, school bags made out of jute and recycled materials, dustless chalks, climate resilient t-shirts and a cap, among others.

The curriculum has activity-based learning modules and is designed by the Nature Science Initiative organisation. With this curriculum, Reckitt aims to encourage observation and sensitisation towards the environment among students.

A Mission LiFE Club, also known as a green club, is established in the school, under which several campaigns and workshops are conducted on the awareness about climate change, recycling and waste management, segregating and composting of solid waste, water and energy conservation, tree plantation, etc.

The club is a team of 10-15 members, including two faculty members, who responsible for organising community outreach programmes and mark major environment-related days. The club has a President, Vice President and Secretary, who are elected by the club members annually.

The Climate Resilient School project is being implemented in three phases, starting this year till 2025 and will cover all 13 districts of Uttarakhand. The plan aims to target three districts, Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag and Chamoli, in the first year, four districts naming, Champawat, Udham Singh Nagar, Dehradun, Haridwar, in the second year and reach the remaining six districts in the third year which includes, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar, Almora, Nainital, Tehri and Paur.
