The all-new Skoda Slavia is set to make its global premiere in India in the second half of November 2021. The compact sedan is slated to be launched in the first quarter of 2022. It will be the second product from the Czech carmaker under the India 2.0 project.

The Skoda Slavia will be introduced in the Indian car market as a replacement for the Rapid. Compared to the latter, it is 138mm longer and the wheelbase has gone up by 100 mm offering more legroom at the rear.

The all-new Slavia will be the first sedan to be built on the company's localised MQB A0-IN platform, which has been specifically developed for the Indian market. The Skoda Kushaq compact SUV also employs the same platform.

In terms of proportions, the all-new Skoda Slavia measures 4541 mm in length, 1752 mm in width and 1487 mm in height. The wheelbase of the sedan stands at 2651 mm.

Mechanically, the Skoda Slavia will share its powertrains with the Kushaq compact SUV. It includes 2 turbocharged petrol powertrains - 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI. While the former makes 113 bhp and 175 Nm of peak torque, the latter is good for 148 bhp and 250 Nm of power figures.

Transmission options include a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard while a 6-speed automatic torque converter and a 7-speed DSG automatic will be offered as optional.

For safety, the Skoda Slavia will come equipped with a host of safety features including up to 6 airbags. The company also says that the company has internally tested the sedan for its crashworthiness, under more stringent conditions than Global NCAP standards.
