The first accident happened when a bus carrying a wedding party fell into a gorge in Hajo in Kamrup district.

At least 30 people, including the bridegroom, were confirmed dead in this accident. The bus was on its way from Guwahati to Tihu.

Local people of the area are helping Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams in search and rescue work.

Six critically injured passengers were rescued and admitted to Mukundo Kakoti Civil hospital in neighbouring Nalbari district, the police said.

In a second accident, an oil tanker collided with a bus in Bokakhat near Kaziranga National Park.

Almost 22 people suffered serious burn injuries in the accident. Rescue operations were on here too.
