15-year-old boy killed by classmate for Rs 50,000

Pune: When three friends wanted money to have some fun, they decided to kidnap a classmate.

A 15-year-old student of an English-medium school Shubham Shirke was kidnapped and later murdered for ransom by 3 boys, one of whom was his classmate.  

According to the police the classmate Akshay Bhagat called Shubham to his house on Saturday afternoon, where two other boys were also there.

In a few hours Akshay called Shubham's father and demanded a ransom of Rs 50,000 saying that his son's life was in danger

Following the instructions given to him, Shubham's father left Rs 15,000 on a footpath which was collected by one of the boys on came on a bike.

But when Shubham didn't return home as promised, his father registered a police complaint and gave them the number of the motorcycle that came to collect the cash.

The police then picked up Akshay who confessed that they had killed Shubham.

This morning Shubham's body was found in Dighi area.  

The three boys- two are 15 years old and the third is 19 - have been arrested on charges of kidnapping and murder.

Shubham had appeared for class 10 exams this year from Priyadarshani English medium school in Bhosari area of Pune.
