Seven people have been detained in connection with the stone pelting between two groups, which injured six persons, in Parvati area in Pune, police said today.
Seven persons have been detained in connection with the rioting that took place last night, in which some vehicles in the area were also damaged, Dattawadi police under whose jurisdiction the area comes, said.
The situation was reported to be peaceful and "under control" after police fired in the air and resorted to lathi-charge to disperse them.
While police were investigating what triggered the trouble, city Police Control Room Inspector Seema Mehendale said, "The situation was brought under control after police fired in the air and resorted to a mild lathi-charge to disperse the clashing groups."
Security has been beefed up in the area after the incident to maintain peace.
