Pune: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today announced that a team of Airports Authority of India has given final approval to a proposed site for the Pune International Airport in Purandar tehsil of the district.
"The team of AAI, which had conducted feasibility survey of proposed land in Purandar tehsil, has given its approval and AAI has agreed that the land is suitable. Since the approval has come, we will now start the further process and we are happy that the local people too are positive about the airport," he said.
The government will now hold a meeting with Maharashtra Airport Development Authority, Mr Fadnavis said.
Initially, the state government was considering Khed teshil for the airport and AAI had carried out survey of two sites there. However, later the focus shifted to Purandar tehsil.

The government will now hold a meeting with Maharashtra Airport Development Authority, Mr Fadnavis said.
