Pune: A 53-year-old Criminal Investigation Department (CID) inspector, Nandkishore Jangam, died of a massive heart attack in a local gymnasium on Monday morning.
Jangam, a resident of Kothrud, had left for the gym located in Bhusari Colony in the morning. After reaching the gym, Jangam complained of chest pain and collapsed on the floor.
Some of the gym members, including the instructor, rushed Jangam to the nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. Doctors at the hospital said Jangam died of a massive heart attack.
As per the statement issued by the department, Jangam had joined the police force in 1995 and had served in the Indian Air Force (IAF) before he became a police official.
Wife Sunita and their children Bhagyashree and Yash survive him. Jangam had also worked as an officer at the city commissionerate office.
