Moot court to debate present and future of Marathi

Pune: A moot court to discuss the present and future of Marathi language, public interview with lyricist Jagdish Khebudkar, round-the-clock poetry meet and eight seminars devoted to important topics would be the highlights of the 84th all-India Marathi literary meet to be held in Thane in December.

The programme for the meet was announced by the working president for the meet and the library, PK Datar, at a press conference in Pune on Tuesday. Marathi Granth Sangrahalaya, Thane, will host the meet at Dadoji Konddev stadium in Thane between December 25 and 27.

Veteran writer Uttam Kamble, elected president for the meet, will take over after current president Da Bhi Kulkarni hands over charge to him at the inaugural ceremony on December 25.

As per tradition, the Granth Dindi would be held on the eve of the inaugural ceremony and would be led by Kulkarni.

Datar said poet Shankar Vaidya, playwright SN Navare and propagator of Marathi books Shyam Joshi would be felicitated. He said the organisers are trying to convince chief minister to attend the moot court.
