Petrol pump staff beaten for telling man to await turn

Petrol pump staff beaten for telling man to await turn
Pune: Like on any other day, an employee at a petrol pump on the Pashan-Sus road in Bavdhan was just doing his duty when he told a man to await his turn for a bottle of petrol.

Little did he know that this request would leave him and other workers in the petrol pump battered.  Some six miscreants beat up employees of the Shinde petrol pump around 8.15 pm on Monday for refusing to serve one of them immediately.

One of the miscreants asked an employee for a bottle of petrol and was told to wait. He attacked the employee and was soon joined by some more men who decided to "teach the pump staff a lesson".

They hit the other employees also for trying to stop them. The men then entered the office and damaged furniture. One of them even made a phone call from the pump and more hoodlums joined the fight.

The entire scene of the rumpus was caught by a CCTV camera. The men were reportedly operators of illicit hooch and from nearby villages. Three of the employees at the petrol pump were beaten. No injuries were reported, but all of them have stopped reporting to work out of  fear.

Sunil Shinde, the pump's proprietor, filed a complaint yesterday. Inspector Ganpat Madgulkar of the Hinjewadi police station said: "The men have escaped and we are trying to find them. We will also confirm if they are into illegal liquor manufacturing."
