Pune Municipal Corporation duped of Rs 11.89 lakh

Pune: The Sahakarnagar police have booked the owner of a software company and his employees for allegedly duping the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) of about Rs11.89 lakh between April and August 2010.

A complaint in this regard has been registered by PMC system manager, Rahul Pratap Jagtap, with the Sahakarnagar police station.

The municipal corporation had given a contract to Dhankavdi-based software company, Vidya Online Pvt Ltd, to collect various taxes from citizens. The company had been collecting the taxes for 14 regional offices of the PMC since 2005.

The complainant said, "We sensed something fishy in the process of tax collection in some regional offices. When we investigated, we came to know that the company had not paid collections amounting to Rs11.89 lakh between April and August 2010 to the PMC."
