Pune : A man was killed and two others were injured when a fire broke out in a residential apartment in Pune today, police said.
While the deceased, a student, reportedly living as a paying guest, died of asphyxiation, two other residents, including a girl, who suffered serious burn injuries, were being treated at Government-run Sassoon Hospital, they added.
Over a dozen vehicles, mainly two wheelers in the parking area of the "Anupam" apartment in Navi Peth locality, were also burnt in the blaze, the cause of which was not yet known, Fire Brigade sources said.
Most of the residents were asleep when the fire, which started in the parking, spread in the apartment, they said, adding the cause was being ascertained.
