Pune: A six-year-old schoolgirl, Ashwini Deepnarayan Pande, was crushed under the rear wheels of a speeding water tanker on Friday afternoon on Someshwarwadi Road in Pashan.
The Chatuhshrungi police have arrested the tanker driver Sandeep Kundlik Dolas (40) of Pashan.
A complaint in this regard was registered with the Chatuhshrungi police by the victim's relative, Vijay Bhoru Veernak (20) of Pashan.
Assistant police inspector, SB Javale of Chatuhshrungi police station, said, "On Friday afternoon Ashwini and her four friends were going to school. The tanker was going towards Pashan. While taking a turn near Shivranjan Towers, the truck hit Ashwini and she came under the rear wheels."
Ashwini was studying in standard I at Municipal Corporation School in Pashan.
